The Showdown begins with a LeMans style start, athletes will run up the NOSO trail to the bike racks. After going under the start line arches you will be off and racing. Riders will head west on the Blevins trail. At the west end of Blevins riders will turn onto the new Chainfruit trail heading northwest. Next, jump on Lost Sheep (also a new trail) heading west as it turns south. Let go of the breaks and have fun flowing down the trail to Moon Rock (1.1 mi.).Make a right onto Moon rock and meander your way back to lower Blevins heading east to NOSO (1.4 mi.) Take a right on NOSO heading south to Channel Trail (.45 mi.)Turn right on Channel trail from NOSO and bump your way up to the Levee Trail (.11 mi.)Make a sharp left turn onto Levee trail and stay on the Levee for 1.36 mi. Go all the way to the end of the Levee trail, almost to the fence where you will cross the Canal to the other side of the Levee. Ride north on the levee to SpillwayHead up Spillway to Ruidoso make a right at Ruidoso and let your bike rip it’s way to County line (1.4 mi) Next travel north on County Line for a mile, catch Meridian going west for .7 miles.
Make a right onto Cat Peaks from Meridian trail.
Now you get to choose your poison! You can take the Cat Peaks trail around the peaks for 1.3 miles of steady climbing and descending or take the short cut by turning west on Cat Peaks Bi Pass this is .75 miles of double black diamond trail and not for the faint of heart. The bi-pass adds little more of a raw and rocky element to the rider’s journey to the finish.
The Bi-pass opens at 2pm. All riders must ride Cat Peaks Trail until 2 pm.
Finally, get back on Blevins (1.0 mi) going northwest to the exchange/finish line.
